One of the state’s most popular attractions, the Birmingham Zoo, is an ever-evolving adventure. 3. Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Birmingham Botanical Gardens is Alabama’s largest living museum with more than 12,000 different plants in its living collections. Walk through the beautiful Gardens and take in the scene; which includes the largest public horticulture library in the U.S., conservatories, a wildflower garden, two rose gardens, the Southern Living garden, and Japanese Gardens with a traditionally crafted tea house. 5. The Market at Pepper Place

Feeling bored on a Saturday? Visit The Market at Pepper Place! The Market is a Certified Alabama Farmers Market featuring goods grown, raised and made in the state of Alabama. Located in the Pepper Place Entertainment District, you can enjoy the downtown area of Birmingham while you shop for your goods! 10. Ruffner Mountain

Get out and enjoy nature! Head to Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve – a 1,040 acre nature preserve located in Birmingham’s historic South East Lake neighborhood. The preserve includes a visitor center containing native Alabama animals including foxes, raccoons, raptors, snakes, turtles, owls, and coyotes.
